Summary

A backstory series for Arifureta: From Commonplace to World’s Strongest, the hit franchise that’s now an anime! (And check out the manga version of this series, too!)

Before Hajime was transported to Tortus, the Synergist Oscar Orcus was having his own adventure--but not willingly! Oscar is a simple working man, keeping his head down to earn his money and support an orphanage, until Miledi Reisen bursts into his life。 She wants Oscar to join her in a quest to defeat the gods。 Oscar refuses to chase after that kind of danger。。。until that kind of danger finds its way to him。

Far and away the most boring Arifureta novel I've read。 I just could not get into it。 I really did not give that much of a hoot about anything that was going on in this volume。 The church is trying to invade Haltina and they can't actually hold them off by themselves。 So of course Miledi and friends have to step in to help。 Sounds reasonable, right?Well, I hop when you give it a chance you have a better time reading it than I did。 I could ALWAYS find a excuse to put this one down。 I read two oth Far and away the most boring Arifureta novel I've read。 I just could not get into it。 I really did not give that much of a hoot about anything that was going on in this volume。 The church is trying to invade Haltina and they can't actually hold them off by themselves。 So of course Miledi and friends have to step in to help。 Sounds reasonable, right?Well, I hop when you give it a chance you have a better time reading it than I did。 I could ALWAYS find a excuse to put this one down。 I read two other light novels during it because I had to take breaks。Zero isn't as fun for me as the main series (largely because of Miledi who is so annoying), but I usually don't react that badly to her。 So your mileage may vary。 For me, I may read more cause the mainline only has one book left, but Zero just doesn't hold a candle to the original。 *le sigh* 。。。more

Best so far in the Zero series。 I mean, yes, the characters are intentionally supposed to be similar to those in Arifureta but volumes 1-3 were a little slow for me。 That said the battle scene in volume four was worth the entire read of Zero volumes 1-3。 Just awesome。

In many ways the Zero series is more engaging and dramatic than the main series。 Why? Because we know that most of them are doomed, but not how or why。 Or when。 So getting attached to them at all is very bittersweet。Anyway this is good fun, carrying on the well-established tradition of recruiting new team members while developing the main plot lines。 I’m on board now and I’ll enjoy the ride to the end of the line。
